Ok, first round, let’s go straight to the point to discover everything about Wood’d. Behind the faces and values that make this place unique. We couldn’t start anywhere else. To bring you right in the middle of Wood’d we need someone who can talk the insides, the details, the one thousands puzzles of it. Who can talk about the past and the future for which Wood’d stand. Ladies and gents, please welcome Stefano Aschieri.
Describe yourself in ten words:
I’m a serial collector, late dinners lover and Wood’d co-founder.
Three things that inspire you?
The outdoors, delicious food, technology from the past.
One place everyone should visit?
Châlet Etoile in Cervinia, north-western Italy. Owned by friends of mine, it is the happy place where I spend summer breaks. This has been recently revered as one of the top 30 European mountain restaurants by the Telegraph.
Two things you love to do in your spare time?
Long breakfasts, surfing the web.
One achievement you will always remember?
I remember that when the very first big stores approached us to purchase our Wood’d products, I was very young. I was so proud of it, I used to go there to buy my own products. Exciting times!
Five objects or products that change your professional and personal life.
As a collector and a designer, I think I’ll break down the five essential objects and products that had an impact on me as inspirations and life companions if I can say so.
#01 – Fisherman’s Friends peppermints
Kind of became addicted to Fisherman’s Friend as a kid, and I love everything about it. Packaging, colours and its old-school allure. Other than the flavour, needless to say it!
#02 – Leica CM camera from 1992
This was the latest camera that I bought for non-professional purposes. It is exactly my age and has been with me during most of my adolescence vacations. There is special bond to this. In the latest years I still keep using the tool for the pleasure of it, though I don’t develop films from a while now. I have full closets of these, but…someday I will recover everything!
#03 – My old iPods collection
This is a pretty clear statement to me. I kinda develop a sort of the attachment for the things I own. I do respect and care about them. Here’s below I am happy to share with you my personal collection of iPods, from when I was 14 to 23. Everything still works, though batteries go dead after 20 mins, in some cases! But…you know it…
#04 – My favorite Wood’d cover
This is from the Alphabet Collection, of course a Wood’d product. I love the way this collection was designed and put together, there’s a lot of craftsmanship and inspiration behind this object. The inlayed letter was the project of graphic designer Valentina Ferioli during our first workshop. We loved the thought process and idea and made it into a real collection immediately. Ciao Vale!
#05 – My pen
I have always been a big stationary fan. As a designer, an old fashioned one, pens and notebooks are fundamental tools for anything I have to do. This is the one I am using right now, designed by Giulio Iacchetti for Interno Italiano.
