Carlo Pastore gives us a preview to what the biggest indie music festival in Italy sounds like!
An unmissable event for all the indie souls out there! Carlo Pastore joins the “Wood’d Vibes” with a preview of tunes from this year’s edition of MI AMI Festival, which will be held from Thursday the 25th to Sunday the 27th of May in Milano, of course. Let’s celebrate with this thirty minutes mixtape, everything’s Italian in here. So cheer up Carlo! To our city, our music, our people!
Ciao Carlo. First thing first, who are you?
My name is Carlo Pastore, I am the radio host of Babylon on Radio 2 Rai. I plan events such as MI AMI (don’t miss it! It’s this weekend, in Milan). I join festivals such as Viva, Club to Club and Red Bull’s Season of Festivals. Once in a while, I host tv shows, the last one is Credits on Real Time. I am a musician, I have an album ready with Wemen. Last but not least, I spend time with my girlfriend and my dog (if I’m not playing football, or Juventus is).
How did you start with music?
I started playing as a child, in my hometown band. I’ve never been that much into saxophone or clarinet, but you know how it is, I had to play during processions so I played. At 15 rock’n’roll was my epiphany and I started playing guitar with a schoolmate, Albè, who still is with me in my current band. I never considered myself a technical player, but damn serious about everything involved with music. I see the guitar as extension of my tongue, I love to think that it allows me to say things I am not able to express with words. I was still a boy when I decided, against everyone’s will, that music would have been not only my life but also my job. And so it is now.
Which are your main influences, and how they affected your sound?
I like to think I don’t have one sound. Since I am a DJ, I am what I play.
What are you listening to lately?
From disco to trap, I consider music as a full river, different every day. Right now I can’t stop listening to Ghali and Liberato.
Which was the inspiration for this mix?
As creative director of MI AMI (which stand for “you love me” as well as “important music in Milan, Ed.) I mixed and gave value to the work we’ve done for this next edition. Some of the big players will join the show (Carmen Consoli, Baustelle, Le Luci Della Centrale Elettrica, Edda, Pop X, Mecna, Coez) but also new interesting names. Which is the part that I prefer most because it calls our curiosity out.
We are curious, what have you prepared for Wood’d?
There’s Cumbia, India, Naples, Foggia, Canada, Rome, Veneto, Piedmont. It is all about Italy, a music story.
